STORM Freya is bearing down on the UK - and the Met Office has issued new guidance opn where the high winds will hit.

The storm will start to make itself felt from 3pm this afternoon as it sweeps in from the west.

But Bradfordians won't notice the strengthening winds until early evening when strong gusts will buffet the district.

The storm will be at its worst over West Yorkshire from 11pm until the early hours, when the winds will start to die down.

A Met Office forecaster said the district could see gusts of 40mph quite widely.

That's strong but not as bad as originally feared. The Met Office said earlier this week that gusts of 60-70mph were expected.
