A LLANDYBIE man has been jailed for 16 months after attacking his former partner with a rock during a sustained assault which left her with a fractured nose.

The assault, which took place within a lorry cab on an industrial estate in Llandybie, on December 14 last year, saw attacker Christopher Ray Williams pick up a crowbar at one point - but he didn’t use it.

Williams appeared at Swansea Crown Court for sentencing on Friday.

The details of the attack were heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court during a previous appearance where Williams admitted a charge of actual bodily harm.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard Jones said the pair had driven to the lorry in the Llandybie Estate in Llandeilo Road, Llandybie where Williams, 38, was living in the cab of the vehicle.

Mr Pritchard Jones said Williams’ ex-partner had been walking to a friend’s house when he drove past her “by coincidence and asked her to get into the car, which she did.”

He added: “They went to the lorry cab and spent some two hours talking.”

While there, Williams’ ex-partner received a phone call about her daughter’s boyfriend being back at her home.

“This upset Williams as he didn’t get on with the boyfriend.

“It triggered him to stand up in the HGV cab and lean over her.

“He began pulling her hair and punching her repeatedly to the head and body.

“He kneed her and she sat there trying to defend herself. Then the attack ended as quickly as it started.

“He picked up an ornamental rock which was in the cab with the words ‘Gorseinon Rocks’ written on it and hit her on the head, hands and back with it.

“He then got a crowbar and held it in the air. She was fearful he was going to hit her with it but he didn’t hit her with the crowbar.”

She suffered bruising to her arms and legs, a blackened and swollen hand and a CT scan revealed a fractured nose.

Following the attack she was “too frightened to leave the cab and they both fell asleep.”

“She then left at 7.30am the next day, went home and called the police.”

Williams was given a 14 month prison sentence for the ABH, and two months was added consecutively for a breaching a suspended sentence order, leaving a total of 16 months to be served.
