A NURSERY in Little Horton has been rated Good by Ofsted in its first inspection.

Little Horton Nursery was praised for it positive atmosphere and support of children with special needs.

The report said: “Staff promote positive behaviour.

“They give children lots of praise for their achievements, helping to raise their self-esteem. Children behave well.

“Self-evaluation is effective and leads to clear action plans for ongoing improvements for each room.

“The manager takes account of the views of children, staff and parents to

plan further developments for the nursery.

“Parents speak highly of the care their children receive and how well staff support families.

“All children make good progress relative to their starting points. Staff work closely with other professionals to make sure that children with special educational needs or disabilities receive the support they need to ensure they achieve well.

“Recruitment and vetting procedures are stringent and ensure that staff are fully vetted.

“There is a thorough and robust induction procedure. This means that newly appointed staff do not have unsupervised access until all suitability checks are complete.”

To become Outstanding, it was told to encourage older children to become more independent, and use assessments better to plan children’s next steps better.
