A SERIES of drop in events will be held for people to see plans to drastically change three of Bradford's most congested junctions.

On Monday West Yorkshire Combined Authority revealed £14 million plans to attempt to reduce congestion at the Great Horton Road/Horton Grange Road, Toller Lane/Whetley Hill and Thornton Road/Cemetery Road junctions.

The work will include a new road being built and the creation of one way systems and new traffic light junctions.

People have until March 29 to have their say on the plans.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Planning and Transport at Bradford Council, said: “These upgrades will deliver significant improvements reducing journey times, cutting congestion and reducing air pollution.

“The West Bradford Junctions Improvement Scheme will also improve road safety and help boost productivity, jobs and housing.

“Highways improvements can deliver significantly quality of life benefits so we are very keen to hear people’s views.

“The scheme is part of a broader strategy to upgrade roads across Bradford district.”

Councillor Kim Groves, Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority Transport Committee said: “Like many of the Combined Authority’s West Yorkshire-plus Transport Fund schemes, this work will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion which in turn will reduce improve journeys times and improve local air quality.

“Reducing local congestion will also help attract new business investment to the area as well as supporting the development of much-needed new housing.

“I would urge everyone who lives or works in this area or who travels through regularly to make sure they have their say on this scheme.”

The drop in events will take place on Monday March 4 from 10.30am - 1.30pm at Bradford City Hall, on Thursday, March 7, noon - 3.00pm at Asda on Cemetery Road, on Tuesday March 12 from 3.30pm – 6.30pm at Manningham Library, and on Wednesday March 13 from 11am - 2pm at Horton Park Health Centre.
