COUNCIL officers have vowed to make sure the owner of an evacuated building complies with fire safety standards.

Residents in Appleton Point, in Hamm Strasse, were all re-homed last week after the block failed fire certification.

Bradford Council says it is working with the fire service and the building's owner to make sure the building is up to scratch, and outstanding issues will be taken further if it is necessary.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: "The Council will continue to work closely with WYFRS and those responsible for the building to ensure that the building complies with the necessary fire safety and housing standards.

"These actions could identify evidence that might justify legal action at a future date but until those investigations are completed it would be inappropriate for the council to comment further.”
