A COMPANY has been granted retrospective planning permission to house almost 100 storage containers off a major Bradford road.
J W Boylin Group, which has sites across Yorkshire, submitted to plans to store up to 94 of the containers on a site on Teasdale Street, Off Wakefield Road near Dudley Hill, late last year. The site had been used to store containers since November 2014.
There are currently 78 8ft by 20ft containers on the site, but the application was to increase the capacity to 94.
The application has now been approved by Bradford Council.
Retrospective cafe plans re-submitted, weeks after being refused
The company had said there were very few visits to the site each day - roughly eight. Their application said: “Our client has been operating a storage container business on this site for four years and no complaints have been received.”
Planning officers said: “It is apparent that storage containers are not the most aesthetically pleasing and in any quantity the visual harm that can occur is exacerbated. In this instance however, the threat of any visual harm is largely alleviated by the position of the site and the existing boundary screening. The site sits in an unobtrusive position at the end of Teasdale Street with only limited views possible.”
