DOG walkers are up in arms after trees was cut down yesterday on a Bradford lane.
The mature sycamores were on the side of Woodhall Road, off Gain Lane, in Thornbury.
Helen Cartwright said: "Local residents were not made a were of this, its a disgrace. Mature trees being chopped up like this all falling over the public rights of way.
"We as dog walkers are at a loss to what's happening, but hundreds of trees are suddenly being cut down.
"They are chipping like man right now. Trunks half a metre across, it's really very sad."
She said she thought the work may be connected to a proposed large industrial development nearby but "the loss of all these trees seems bizarre".
She added that residents thought tree preservation orders were on many trees in the area due to the visual amenity.
