CAKE chain Patisserie Valerie will not be reopening in The Broadway Shopping Centre despite news today the chain has been saved.

The chain which collapsed on January 22 has been bought out of administration by an Irish private equity firm Causeway Capital Partners, based in Dublin. The firm has snapped up 96 Patisserie Valerie sites, safeguarding nearly 2,000 jobs nationally.

A spokesman for the administrators, KPMG said the Bradford store, which closed on January 22, would not be reopening as a Patisserie Valerie.

“Unfortunately, only the stores which remained open after the company went into administration have been included in the sale. The Bradford branch was one of those which was closed and will not open again as a Patisserie Valerie.”

He added that the branches which were closed - totalling 70 - were likely to be sold off to pay the creditors.

The closures resulted in 920 redundancies.
