JUDITH Cummins, Labour MP for Bradford South, has asked in the House of Commons today what the Government will do to support the city's work in the media industry.
Ms Cummins was congratulating Bradford on its 10th anniversary of being named the first ever UNESCO City of Film.
She reeled off a list of the famous TV shows and films that have been shot in Bradford over the past decade, including Peaky Blinders, Victoria and Miss You Already.
Delighted to congratulate Bradford City of Film on ten years as the world's first UNESCO City of Film. Today I asked the Government to set out what they will do to support Bradford's pioneering film and creative industry. #bradfordcityoffilm @bfdcityoffilm pic.twitter.com/dCkiU2VYzl

Ms Cummins wants this success to continue and she asked Leader of the House, the Rt Hon Andrea Leadsom MP: "Can we have a debate on what the Government is doing to support the creative sector, and in particular, Bradford's pioneering film industry?"
In response, Ms Leadsom replied: "I know that DCMS (Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee) are always keen to discuss with members across the House what more can be done.
"I will take that away and see whether Government time can be found for such a debate."
Speaking afterwards, Ms Cummins said: “I am always pleased to raise Bradford’s many considerable successes in Parliament and I’m delighted the Leader of the House said she would look into holding a debate on further support for Bradford’s creative sector.”
