THE Wonders of Winter will be explored on a walk organised by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Bradford Council’s Countryside and Rights of Way team.

The family friendly walk on Tuesday, February 19, at 2pm to 3.30pm will look for signs of spring as well as collect, explore and play in the nature area. People will also be able to find out about what they can do to help wildlife at this time of year.

The walk will take place around Raw Nook nature reserve and Toad Holes Beck in the Low Moor/Oakenshaw area of Bradford.

Those joining the walk are asked to meet at the playground in Victoria Park and wear suitable footwear and clothes.

Sarah Goldsmith from Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, said: “We are organising a number of activities and events in the Bradford district in the coming months to encourage people to explore the wildlife on their doorstep and discover ways that they can help nature at this time of the year.

“The events that we have coming up are part of our Bradford Urban Discovery Project in which we are working with Bradford Council to support urban communities in Bradford, providing residents with accessible and local natural areas.”

The event is part of the trust's Bradford Urban Discovery Project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and the council’s Countryside and Rights of Way team.

Coun Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “It’s great that our Countryside and Rights of Way team are able to work with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust in this way to bring these types of events to the district. We have some amazing countryside and these events will encourage residents to get out and about and explore nature near to where they live.”
