Children from a Cleckheaton primary school had the chance to see the inner-workings of Westminster during a memorable Parliamentary visit with local MP Tracy Brabin.

The visit saw Howard Park’s School Council spend time with the Parliamentary Education team, take a tour of Westminster and watch Parliament in action with Ms Brabin.

The MP said: “Hosting local schools at Westminster is one of the best parts of my job and I’m always inspired by the level of understanding of politics our young people display.

“Howard Park’s School Council were no exception and they had plenty of intelligent and incisive questions to keep me on my toes.

“It’s crucial that the next generation understand the democratic process so a big thank you to the school and staff for making the trip.”

Marcus Newby, headteacher at the Cleckheaton school, said: “The parliamentary education team and particularly Tracy gave us a wonderful welcome on Monday giving the children a most memorable, educational and inspiring day.

“We were able to see parliament in action and all children and staff enjoyed the day immensely.”
