A CRICKET programme which aims to get more children in Bradford active has joined up with a charity fighting food waste.
Yorkshire Cricket Foundation’s Wicketz programme and FareShare have teamed up, with the charity providing food to families attending the sessions.
Wicketz gets children off the streets and playing cricket instead, and also offers advice on diet, nutrition, and subject such as drugs, violence and gangs.
It runs out of Karmand Community Centre in Barkerend with weekly sessions.
Pete Barringer, from FareShare, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the YCF initiative with food for this project.
“As a food redistribution charity we have two goals: to support vulnerable people with good food that has become surplus and thereby prevent it being wasted.”
