VISITORS from a Middle East university were in Bradford this week to learning about research and teaching collaborations in the city.

Representatives from the Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Jordan visited the University of Bradford after the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding last July.

During the visit, discussions were held to look at possible joint programmes between the two universities in areas including pharmacy, engineering and business.

The delegation from Jordan included the university's Vice Chancellor and Dean of Pharmacy, and they met with a number of people from Bradford including Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Shirley Congdon, and head of pharmacy and medical sciences Prof Marcus Rattray.

The partnership between the universities will support staff and student exchanges and joint research projects, and AAU has already sponsored four scholars to carry out PhD research in pharmacy in Bradford.

Prof Rattray said: “We were pleased to extend a warm welcome to Bradford for our visitors from Al-Ahliyya University.

"We look forward to continuing to develop our partnership working in the area of pharmacy and medical sciences."
