The Liberal Democrats have regained a Bolton & Undercliffe seat from the Labour Party in a by-election.

The vote was brought about by the death of the sitting councillor, Ian Greenwood, a previous leader of Bradford Council.

Amid a 29 per cent turn-out, Rachel Sunderland won the by-election with 1733 votes, which was 51 per cent of the vote.

Labour’s Amriz Hussain came second.

Before the by-election, Councillor Sunderland pledged: "We will campaign for more school places, doctor's surgeries, road upgrades and other amenities to support new housing developments."
