SCOTS MasterChef finalist Dean Banks has already been in talks with Scotland’s National Chef Gary Maclean and other officials about helping in the community.
Dean was cooking a special buffet for guests at Cala Home’s new swish £1.2million Riverside property in Bothwell when he told me he’s been in touch with Gary and others.
He said: “Gary contacted me and we’ve talked about some things and I’ve been cooking for the homeless in Angus and gone back to school to teach kids about healthy food.”
Dean can’t wait to offer sustainable food at his new restaurant in Edinburgh’s Picardy Place.
He gave me gold lips after I tasted his gold leaf adorned brownies on the property launch night.
The property at Riverside is incredible, by the way, and I loved the cinema room and golf tee artwork, as well as the stainless steel wallpaper. Perhaps 10 of us could get together and buy it.
No free tickets for star’s family
TOM WALKER revealed his family still buy their tickets to see him in concert.
The double Brits-nominated singer, whose mum and dad are Scottish, played to surprised shoppers outside the Royal Concert Hall yesterday – and even his youthful looking gran popped along to support him.
I put my foot in it when I asked Tom if 81-year-old Sadie was his mum (ouch). Tom, who later played at McChuills on High Street for a VIP fan event, told me: “My family have always bought tickets to support me and my gran still does. I have to tell her not to.”
Tom, who speaks in a Scottish accent when he’s here but goes English when he’s in Manchester, also told me he’s hoping Scots will get right behind him ahead of his nominations for Best Breakthrough artist and Best Single for Leave A Light On at the Brits.
He said: “I’m the only Scot on the list so I hope everyone here votes for me.”
Home comforts for pipers
THE Red Hot Chilli Pipers claim they’ve ordered a rugby ball, blue M&Ms and a Labrador puppy for their appearance at Murrayfield this Saturday.
The lads who were in Glasgow to play the pipes with Tom Walker this week – and also have him guesting at the 60,000 capacity Six Nation Game – told me they’ve made sure they like their home comforts.
They’re touring America in March, so will no doubt be taking some with them.
