THE HISTORIC Bahamas steam loco has passed its ‘fitness to run’ test with flying colours and will pull trains on the main line for the first time in 25 years.
The Bahamas Locomotive Society, based at Ingrow station, made the announcement this week following a test run in January 31.
Chairman Keith Whitmore said: “I am delighted our locomotive is back where it belongs, and will return from Tyesley Locomotive Works to Keighley.
“It will again be giving pleasure to thousands of enthusiasts and families who will be able to ride behind our locomotive.
" We now look forward to working with main line steam operators.”
The first trip is on Saturday, February 9, with the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, for a passenger run along the Settle and Carlisle Railway. The five-year renovation of Bahamas used Lottery cash.
