BRADFORD Council’s Health Trainer service is offering structured, interactive 12-week courses to help people to lose weight without any fad diets.

The course looks at changing behaviour through making lifestyle choices.

The group aims to teach people about food labelling, portion sizes, fats, sugars, healthy and unhealthy foods, physical activity and also mood. Health trainers work with people to identify changes they can make straight away and also help to find solutions preventing them from achieving others.

It’s not just about losing weight it’s about motivation to do it, maintaining the changes, so the weight stays off. Most people can relate to having a bad day or week leading to a relapse into unhealthy eating, this course looks at ways to move past these blips and stay motivated, keeping you on track to a happier, healthier lifestyle.

The Council says a relaxed, friendly atmosphere is key to these groups and learning from each other and hearing about other people’s achievements can really help to motivate someone. Previously, people who have completed the programme have stayed in touch with those they met on the course, continuing to socialise and organise walks.

New weight management groups are starting next month, all places need to be booked and everyone is welcome, but please note the course at Manningham Mills is aimed at ladies only.
