SIR - Re the front page of the T&A, January 24. I refer to a 'serial burglar' who was sent to prison for his shameful 108 offences. The latest is that of a pensioner of 72 years of age, he managed to steal her handbag and its contents.

She could have had a heart attack, or worse still died of the shock, at the hands of this monster, who has just six years to spend in prison for this dreadful crime. Just what is our justice system thinking about?
My heart goes out to the pensioner involved in this act of thuggery by this 'waste of space' criminal.
I do convey my best wishes to the lady involved.
