A STREET drug dealer serving two years behind bars for selling heroin and crack cocaine in Bradford has been sentenced to a further six months in jail.

Qasib Hussain, 21, of Sherwood Place, Undercliffe, Bradford, was sent to a young offender institution in August last year after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

He and an accomplice were seen dealing crack cocaine and heroin on Festival Avenue, Shipley, on March 24, 2017.

They were caught by plain clothes police officers with fifteen wraps of crack cocaine and 15 wraps of heroin.

On Monday, Hussain was brought back to Bradford Crown Court to be sentenced for more drugs offences.

The court heard that those offences dated from October 25, 2017.

He threw a package containing wraps of heroin and crack cocaine from a blue Seat Leon, the court was told.

Hussain had four phones on him and £169 in cash, it was revealed.

He pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.

The court heard that Hussain acknowledged his mistakes and was determined to turn his life around.

His solicitor advocate, Nicholas Leadbeater, said Hussain had pleaded guilty to the new allegations before Christmas at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court.

Mr Leadbeater said Hussain’s earliest release date had been at the end of March.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC, sentenced Hussain to six months imprisonment to run consecutively to his current sentence.

He gave him credit for his guilty plea.

The judge also pointed to the exceptional circumstances of the case.

The court was told that Hussain was not charged with the second set of drugs offences until October 10 last year.

His earlier case had been adjourned on several occasions, waiting for the second matter to catch up.

However, that delay became too great.

Judge Durham Hall gave a warning to Hussain as proceedings concluded.

The judge told him he would have to be dealt with as a “third strike” dealer, meaning her would be facing a seven year minimum sentence, if he was caught trafficking class A drugs again.
