MAJOR roadworks to replace 2km of old metal gas pipe started in the Bingley Road area of Shipley today.

The work is part of plans by Northern Gas Networks (NGN) to invest £309,000 to upgrade the gas distribution network in the area.

The project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and involves replacing 2,000m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers for years to come.

To complete the works safely and efficiently the following road closure will be in place:

Phase 1: From Tuesday, January 29, Bingley Road outside Saltaire Medical Centre to the junction of Grosvenor Road will be closed for approximately two weeks.

Phase 2: From Monday, February 4, from the junction of Grosvenor Road to the junction of Park Street will be closed for approximately two weeks.

A full signed diversion will be in place for motorists.

Our customer care officer has been on site speaking with residents and affected businesses.

All works have been planned in conjunction with Bradford Council.

Anna Mycoe, Business Operational Leader for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to thank all our customers for their patience whilst we complete these essential works. We are sorry for the inconvenience the works will cause.”
