DETECTIVES have released CCTV images of four men they are trying to trace after a woman was locked in a cellar on New Year's Day.
The men were first seen at 5.25pm on Ashcroft Close, Batley, when they tried to get into a home on the street.
The suspects tried the side door handle and a patio door to see if they were unlocked, but were scared off by the occupants who shouted at them.
The men ran off and got into a waiting white, three-door Audi car before driving off, West Yorkshire Police said.
A few minutes later, the men forced their way into a property on nearby Deighton Lane, and locked a woman in her 20s in the cellar before taking jewellery and a watch.
The suspects are believed to have fled in the same white Audi.
Three of the suspects are described as Asian males and one as a white male.
Detective Constable Rupinder Ghatrora, of Kirklees CID, said: “Both of these incidents caused considerable distress to those involved and to the wider community, and CID has been carrying out enquiries since 1 January to try and trace those responsible.
“We have released the CCTV images in case it triggers the memory of a member of the public who recognises the clothing or those pictured.
“I would appeal for those living in the area to cast their minds back to 1 January and get in touch with any information you may have.
“I would also appeal for anyone who has seen a car matching the above description to also get in touch with police.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Kirklees CID on 101, quoting crime reference 13190001081.
