A MAN died after collapsing in a York street, police have confirmed.
A North Yorkshire Police cordon was put in place in Coney Street in the early hours of Friday following the man's death.
A spokesman said the incident was a "sudden, non-suspicious death of a 39-year-old man from West Kirby, Merseyside, who had fallen to the ground outside Boots", at about 1.10am on Friday, January 18.
He said: "Despite the efforts of members of the public and paramedics to save him, he was sadly pronounced dead. The man's family have been informed about the death."
Initial reports to The Press suggested the cordon, which was lifted at about 2.30am on Friday, was related to a violent attack, but the police spokesman said this was not the case.
