An official in the North Yorkshire Police Control Room‏ tweeted last night: "It’s incredibly bad driving conditions out in #York and surrounding areas. I hope you’re all tucked up in bed, but if not, please take care. Make sure windscreens are clear and take extra blankets and hot drinks for long journeys.

The Met Office has a yellow warning for ice in York up until 11am today, with a risk of some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
