A PLANNED restaurant in Little Germany could open until 3am to cater to taxi drivers finishing their late shifts.

Last year a planning application to turn Grade II listed 36 Peckover Street into a restaurant and take away were approved by Bradford Council.

One condition of the approval was that the restaurant and take away would have to shut at 11pm.

An application to amend that approval has now been submitted to the Council by a Mr Khal.

It calls for the restaurant to open until 3pm – although the takeaway wold still shut at 11pm.

The application says: “Much of the business for the proposed restaurant will from Taxi Drivers from the Asian community.

“Culturally they like to meet for a meal after they have finished working, so the applicant wants to extend the opening hours for the restaurant to be enable them to cater for this market.”

A decision on the application is expected next month.

The building is a former warehouse, and planing permission has also been granted to convert the upper floors into flats.
