An accident on the A1(M) is causing delays for motorists travelling northbound near Durham
THE northbound carriageway of the A1(M) was blocked as emergency services dealt with an accident on Tuesday morning.
The accident happened in lane three of the motorway between J63 A167 (Chester-Le-Street) and J64 A195 Western Highway (Washington).
This caused congestion back to J62 (Carville).
Traffic also built up along the A167 and A693 Blind Lane for traffic coming onto the motorway from High Flatts and Chester-le-Street.
All lanes have now been reopened but Highways England warned motorists to temporarily expect heavy traffic in the area as the queues clear.
