A LEARNER driver who failed to display his L plates correctly has been fined more than £400 and issued with three penalty points.
Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) said: "Officers on targeted patrols in Windhill in relation to anti-Social driving reported a 24-year- old male for failing to stop for police and driving other than accordance with a licence. The driver had failed to display his L plates correctly.
"Today the male recieved a £440 fine and was issued with three penalty points after being convicted of both offences."
The NPT issued the following warning:
Drivers are reminded
Any vehicle driven by a learner must display red L plates. In Wales you can use either red D plates, red L plates, or both.
The L plates must be clearly visible to others from:
•in front of the vehicle
•behind the vehicle
You should remove or cover L plates when the vehicle isn’t being driven by a learner, unless it’s a driving school car.
