THE Cake 'Ole has confirmed it is the company which has taken the lease on The Pavilion cafe in City Park, Bradford.

The tea room with a twist has a large following for its creations at its cafes in Keighley and Skipton.

Now part owner Richard Wilson says they will be able to meet demand from people in the city right on their doorstep.

He said: "We have delivered cakes to The Pavilion for four years and we loved it.

"It's in the ideal spot and has lots of potential.

"If the demand is anything like Skipton, I'll be over the moon.

"We do have a lot of people travelling to us from Bradford. We have got a big following in the city.

"A lot of Bradford people have supported us."

He said the new Cake 'Ole would be decorated in the same bizarre style as its outlets in Skipton and Keighley, like a Mad Hatter's tearoom.

"We keep moving forward with the business."

He said The Cake 'Ole was one of eight firms who had put in bids for The Pavilion, which has been empty for a few weeks, and was now just waiting to sign on the dotted line with Bradford Council before they could start giving the building a makeover.

Before launching The Cake ‘Ole in Skipton’s Craven Court shopping arcade, Neil and his partner Richard worked in the banking industry.

Their introduction to their contrasting career came through Richard’s harboured ambition to run a tea room. “We enjoyed spending time in establishments similar to this and wanted to create something that we would enjoy ourselves,” said Neil.

The pair, who live in Keighley, opened a second Cake 'Ole in the Royal Arcade in the town in August 2015.

Richard said: "We serve things which have a twist to them, such as lemonade in milk bottles, or tea in vintage china.

"We were inspired by the mat hatter's tea party and have all kinds of wacky decor, with the chairs painted different colours, birdcages hanging from the ceiling, a giant lion's head door knocker on the wall and the toilet decorated in a retro style."

The Cake 'Ole specialises in serving up eye-catching, colourful, creative and imaginative combinations of food and drink.

Celebrity-styled milkshakes are among the refreshing delights making regular appearances on the menu.

But their signature dishes are the cakes that they create every day - everything from Mars cakes and Nutella and caramel to Victoria sponges with extravagance also given free rein.

Richard discovered his flair for flour after helping Neil rustle up some cakes for his work colleagues.

Savoury snacks include fruit toast, paninis and soups and most of the produce is either home-made or sourced locally.
