THE ANNUAL day chosen to remember the millions of victims of genocide around the world will be marked by Bradford Council at City Hall on January 25.

Holocaust Memorial Day falls on Sunday, January 27, but the local authority's event will take place two days before in the presence of Lord Mayor, Cllr Zafar Ali.

The day will remember the six million murdered Jewish people and other victims of Nazi persecution before and during the Second World War.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Torn from Home’ which reflects on how the enforced loss of a safe place to call home is part of the trauma faced by anyone experiencing persecution and genocide.

This year people will reflect on what happens when individuals, families and communities are driven out of their homes.
