DRIVERS travelling towards Keighley from Skipton were held up for a while this morning after a lorry carrying pallets got stuck under a bridge.
The incident occurred at 10.10am in Keighley Road, Skipton.
A spokesman for Network Rail said the collision occurred at a bridge carrying a freight line and did not cause any significant damage to the bridge structure.
North Yorkshire Police who attended the scene said the load was slightly too high to go under the bridge. The road was not blocked though vehicles travelling in the direction of Keighley were held up for a while. The lorry was moved by 10.45am.
A witness said: “I live close to that area and there is a number of trucks who get right up to the bridge and then have to reverse all the way down Keighley Road causing chaos.”
