OTLEY Sailing Club is making waves towards winning a national award.
The club is one of 11 finalists from across the country in the 2019 RYA and Yachts & Yachting Club of the Year Awards, supported by Gallagher, thanks to its track record in enabling people of all ages and abilities to get out on the water.
The overall winner will be determined by the public and Yachts & Yachting magazine has announced that voting is close.
The club, based at Bridge End Quarry, supported by those who have benefited from its work, is now urging people to cast their vote before the deadline of Monday, January 28.
A 60-strong team of dedicated volunteers at the club ran over 2,700 Sailfree sessions young people and adults with disabilities and complex learning difficulties.
Otley Sailing Club spokeswoman Karen McDonald said: “We’ve been overwhelmed and really touched by the kind words and support from local people. Thank you to everyone who’s voted for us.
