A LORRY carrying pallets got stuck trying to pass under a bridge near Skipton Hospital this morning.

The incident was reported to have occurred at around 10.10am in Keighley Road.

There are no reports of injuries and no other vehicles involved.

An eye witness said a few pallets fell into the road but didn't hit anything.

"I live close to that area and there is a ridiculous number of trucks who get right up to the bridge and then have to reverse all the way down Keighley Road causing chaos," he said.

North Yorkshire Police confirmed they had been called out at 10.15am and said the load was slightly too high to go under the bridge.

The road was not blocked though vehicles travelling in the direction of Keighley were held up for a while. The lorry was moved by 10.45am.

A spokesman for Network Rail said the collision occurred at a bridge carrying a freight line and did not cause any significant damage.
