A NEW artist’s impression of the proposed new food market on Darley Street has been released by Bradford Council.
Last year the Council revealed its plans to demolish the former Marks & Spencer building on Darley Street and build a new food market in its place.
As part of a £21 million shake up of the market service, the Oastler Centre will be flattened to make way for new city centre housing. The new food market would be complemented by a refurbished market in the Kirkgate Centre, which would host stalls selling non-food items.
Two other empty buildings next to the M&S building would be flattened and a new “city square.”
The new image shows what the development would look like from the top of Darley Street.
The Council hopes for the refurbishment work at the Kirkgate market to be completed in 2020.
The new food market is expected to open in 2021.
