STAFF at Bradford College are set to walk out later this month for two days in a dispute over pay.

Members of the University and College Union will take strike action on Tuesday, January 29, and Wednesday 30.

The strike is over a dispute between Bradford College and the UCU over pay. The UCU claims the value of its members' pay has declined by 25 per cent in the past decade.

In a recent ballot, 89 per cent of UCU members at Bradford College who voted backed strike action. Staff will join colleagues at 16 other colleges in England in striking.

Julie Kelley, UCU regional official, said: "UCU members at Bradford College are being forced to take more strike action to secure fair pay.

"Staff have had enough of increasing workloads while their pay is eroded. The college needs to prioritise its staff and come back to us with a meaningful offer. If it refuses then further strikes are on the cards."

A spokesperson for Bradford College said: “The College has been notified that the UCU is calling on its members for a further five days of strike action as part of the ongoing national campaign around pay in the FE sector.

“The College will be engaging in dialogue with the unions on this matter.”
