PUDSEY Post Office’s refurbishment has been revealed after the local MP officially re-opened the new-look branch.

Stuart Andrew “cut the ribbon” on Friday at the branch in Church Lane.

It has undergone a complete refurbishment and is now a bright, modern open-plan branch which includes a range of stationery, greetings cards and gifts, alongside Post Office services. Access to the branch will remain via the existing ramp and steps.

Mr Andrew said: “I am really pleased to be officially opening the Pudsey Post Office in this bright modern environment in the heart of our community.

“I know how important local post offices are to my constituents – and it’s great that this former directly managed branch has remained at the same site, providing the same services that customers trust and rely on.”

There are five serving positions in total, made up of two screened, two open plan and a Post Office serving point at the retail counter. The branch is open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, offering 51 hours of Post Office services every week.

The new agents Richard and Carol Butcher said: “As a community retailer, we hope our customers – both old and new – will like what we have done to the branch, adding a range of stationery, greetings cards and gifts that are convenient for our customers to pick up while also returning their online shopping, paying their bills, or getting some cash out of the usual bank account over the counter.

“Customers will also recognise some familiar faces, in our colleagues Mick Tebb, Mick Hamer, Jane Scriven, Sue Talbot and Lucy Sayce. We have over 150 years of retail service between us including my wife and me. We’re really pleased to have them on board and look forward to serving the community over the coming years.”

Richard Hall, Post Office public affairs manager, said: “Through our modernisation programme, which has seen more than 7,500 branches transformed and more than 200,000 opening hours added to our branch network, we are making it easier and more convenient for customers to get their cash, pay their bills and send and collect their mail at times which suit them.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office will meet the needs of our customers in Pudsey.”
