PLANS have been submitted to create nine apartments in a Grade II-listed building on Bradford's beleaguered Darley Street.

The application, submitted by R S Virdee, is for 43-45 Darley Street, directly across from the Kirkgate Shopping Centre.

According to the application, the building dates back to 1875-6.

It says: "This application seeks to convert the two upper floors from vacant commercial space to new apartments.

"We also propose to convert existing retail storage space at upper ground floor to an apartment."

There will be one one-bedroom apartment, while the others will have two bedrooms.

"A new contemporary dedicated residential entrance is proposed," the application adds.

"The existing staircase will also be re-utilised."
