THE most popular cars in Bradford have been revealed, and you'll never guess which model came top of the list.

Car buying site Carwow has taken data from its 2.5 million monthly visitors to find out what the most popular cars people in Bradford search for.

Taking the top spot in Bradford was... drumroll please... the Volkswagen Golf.

German makes in fact filled four of the five top spots in Bradford, with the Mercedes-Benz A Class coming in second spot, Volkswagen Polo in third, and the Volkswagen Tiguan in fifth.

The only non-German car to make the top five was the humble Ford Fiesta.

It appears the VW emissions scandal over the past few years has not put off Bradford's motorists, with the Wolfsburg-based manufacturer proving ever-popular.

The VW Golf was also the most popular car in Leeds, while in Halifax the Land Rover Discovery Sport was a surprise entry in top spot.

Alex Rose, trading and supply operations director at carwow, says: “Europe - in particular Germany - has such a big influence on British drivers.

"Despite the prospect of Brexit, it is clear we believe Europe rules the roads.

“The data we have at carwow is unique in the industry and means not only do we know what people are buying, it’s also what they are searching for every day.

“The Golf is such a long-term favourite of the driving public it was always going to be hard to dislodge it. However, the rise of the Mercedes A-Class shows the emergence of a new kind of car buyer.

"Car buyers today have more options than ever in terms of how they finance the purchase of a new car and this has broadened horizons dramatically.”
