BRADFORD Council's plans to improve the New Line/Harrogate Road junction in Greengates have been approved by the Transport Secretary.
Work is due to start on the £8.7 million project in November.
The improvement works are intended to reduce congestion and offer improved and safer provision for pedestrians and cyclists.
As part of the plans a number of changes to the road layout are proposed, including the widening of both Harrogate Road and New Line on all four sections of the cross roads.
In addition, new cycling lanes and pedestrian islands with crossings are proposed.
A planned public inquiry into compulsory purchase orders to facilitate the development was cancelled in November after all the objections were withdrawn.
As part of the scheme, the Council has secured demolition orders for 911 and 913-915 Harrogate Road to create a new entrance for the Farm Food store.
