MANORLANDS has paid tribute to a hotel-owning couple who have helped coin-in £10,000 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

John and Susan Rudden, of Grassington House Hotel, host events for the Manorlands Wharfedale Fundraising Support Group.

They have backed the hospice throughout their decade in the village.

Molly Ralphson, community fundraiser at Manorlands, said the amount raised would more than cover the cost of all the hospice's services for a whole day.

"It is fantastic to see how local businesses can make such a difference to the hospice," she added.

"We would like to join with the Wharfedale Fundraising Support Group in saying 'thank you' to John and Susan for their hospitality over the years and their help in raising such an incredible amount."

Manorlands supports patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families at the hospice and in the community, across an area covering Craven, Airedale and Wharfedale as well as parts of Bradford.

All services are free to patients and their loved ones, but it costs £9,000 a day to keep the hospice doors open.

Most of the funds have to be raised through voluntary donations.
