A BRADFORD police officer has been presented with a House of Commons award by the office Bradford West MP Naz Shah

The accolade, for PC Abid Khan, was presented by Councillor Imran Khan, the deputy leader of Bradford Council, "in recognition of his outstanding services to the community of Heaton and Frizinghall”.

PC Khan has worked in Bradford for almost a decade and is due to leave to pursue a new role within policing. 

In his time he has arrested nearly 400 people, including securing a murder arrest in 2017. 

Councillor Mohammed Amran (Lab, Heaton,) said: “Abid is an outstanding officer, using sound communication and respect in all scenarios he faces. I wish him well in his future ventures. Those who follow him have big shoes to fill.”

Councillor Nussrat Mohammed (Lab, Heaton) added:  “I have really enjoyed working with Abid, he always keeps me updated with community tensions/ incidents and always makes himself available to the community."

Acting Chief Superintendent Daniel Greenwood thanked PC Khan for his work in the community.

"Neighbourhood policing is best achieved with partnership working, and you have excelled at this," he said.

"You will be a massive loss to the district and you will always be welcome back.”
