CHILDREN at St Columba's Catholic Primary School on Tong Street in Bradford have been busy helping others in need in the run-up to Christmas.

Throughout the season of Advent every child has brought in an item of food.

The school has called them Reverse Advent Calendars - instead of children receiving a gift, they give something to others in need.

Together, each class created and decorated a box with food items and goods to help those in need this Christmas time.

Every day of Advent one item per class was brought in to create the boxes.

The group of children called the 'Minnie Vinnies' went to The Salvation Army to deliver the gifts and boxes. The Salvation Army were so pleased with them they have taken pictures of the children to put into their magazine.
