THE festivities are here... and Gary Tank commander star Greg McHugh admits he’s feeling ready to conquer the world now that his fitness is back.

The Scots comedian will be seen on our screens on Hogmanay when he goes to Hollywood for a BBC special at 10pm.

I can’t wait to see what high jinks he gets up to with the brill Karen Gillan and lovely Ross King.

Gary meantime says he’s very grateful to the NHS who have helped him on the road to recovery since he slipped on stairs and broke his ankle three years ago. He said: “Three years ago this February I broke my lower tibia, fibula, and dislocated ankle. 9 screws, 2 plates, lateral screw-which then snapped internally a month before my SSE Hydro show in 2016. Today I ran for 20 mins non-stop on treadmill. I never thought it would be possible. Thankyou NHS.”

Gary says he’s now considering getting back to playing tennis for the summer. After Glasgow singer Allan Jay asked him for a game, Greg said: “My ankle does feel good enough to play now. How well is another matter.”

CAROL Smillie says she and Carol Vorderman are in good company - because they are both Christmas babies.

Carol who I recently met in Gordon Street’s Vita Spuntini said: “I am a Christmas Carol, quite genuinely. I was born at Christmas as well. I’m was born on the 23rd of December and Carol Voerderman was born on the 24th. I’ve got a daft enough surname now without them having to give me a comedy surname as well. I don’t get fed up about a lack of presents because I’ve never experienced anything different. It’s a nightmare for my friends who say they love to come out for my birthday and they can see it far enough because they are so busy. The worst birthday though has to be January 3.”

Carol, who is now a humanist celebrant, has been busying herself with weddings and funerals but told me she’s not planning a TV show to follow her pursuits of hatch, match, and despatch.

The all female cast of Six The Musical are thrilled to be holding the show at Glasgow’s SEC because the carnival is outside their dressing room.

As I adjusted my cardboard crown I caught up with the sassy gals after their incredible first night performance of the musical about Henry VIII’s wives.

It’s more like a pop concert than a theatre show and already has a cult following as well as counting Phillip Schofield as a huge celebrity fan. I loved the fun lyrics like ‘lipstick on his ruffle’ and it makes for the perfect girly night out.

Anyway the singing gals told me: “We love the carnival and just want to go on the big wheel. It’s great to be in Glasgow and we are here until December 30 so are having Christmas here too.”
