PLANS to beef up security at a police station in Bradford have been approved by Bradford Council.

West Yorkshire Police submitted plans to upgrade security to the existing building at Dudley Hill police station, and also the perimeter boundary that is already in place.

The changes that will be made are; the installation of a new steel fence around the site, new rear access gates, a new steel fence at existing entrances, new steel doors, a new bollard, new security steel cages, and an additional anti-climb device in numerous areas around the boundary fence.

In the application the police said the works are being done for “maintenance” and are “required security adaptations”.

In approving the application, Arshid Zaman said: “Extensive enclosures are not ideal.

“However, such enclosures would be synonymous and associated with a police service where security is paramount.”

He added the changes were required to upgrade security.
