IT problems affecting Bradford City, Districts Clinical and Airedale and Wharfedale Clinical Commissioning Groups have now been rectified after overnight problems on Wednesday.

Bradford resident Steve Spencer said he had come across a problem accessing a prescription for his wife after the IT system at Low Moor Medical Centre failed.

He said: "I tried to get a prescription issue sorted at The Plantations, Low Moor Medical Centre, and couldn't because the IT was down on Thursday morning.

"My wife, Sue, also had an appointment and the doctor came out and told those waiting it was a Bradford NHS-wide problem.

"I was advised to try and call Bradford South and West Mental Health team but the phones were all dead. I was told it was something. Phones just dead. Same with First Response."

A spokesman for the local CCG said the problem had affected Bradford City and Districts CCG along with Airedale and Wharfedale but not Craven as it was on a different system.

He said: "Essential maintenance work to upgrade our data centre had been scheduled to take place overnight - December 19 to 20.

“It has taken us longer to restart our IT systems than anticipated and we kept our general practices aware of the situation as it developed. During this time, most of our practices were able to access their contingency systems and all our practices are now back online. We are not aware of any clinical issues caused as a result.”

The spokesman said the CCG had not received any direct complaints from members of the public.

Bradford District NHS Trust and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust were unaffected.
