A MEET of over 500 cars that had been organised on social media has been disrupted by police.
West Yorkshire Police had become aware of social media postings inviting drivers to the car park of the Owlcotes Centre in Pudsey on Sunday evening.
Over 500 vehicles were expected to attend.
Neighbourhood officers and neighbourhood response officers attended to find 40 cars were already on site. Police blocked the entrance to the car park to prevent any further cars from entering.
A post by the Leeds West Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "A social media organised meet of over 500 cars was interrupted due to previous anti Social Behaviour and street racing which has, in areas, resulted in serious injuries and fatalities.
"All vehicles were dispersed from the area without incident."
