A GLUSBURN man has been cleared of assault and of criminal damage after magistrates found his alleged victim's evidence to be 'vague'.

The woman claimed ex partner Nathan Taylor, 26, grabbed her and threw her out of her own house in Skipton, leaving her with a bruised arm. She also claimed Taylor had damaged her new front door by kicking it.

The Skipton court heard today that the couple and their child had been at a wedding in Steeton during the day in March and that the woman had returned later on her own for the evening do.

Taylor had stayed at home with the child and was in bed when the woman returned at around 10.30pm according to her, and after midnight according to him, the court heard.

She told the court that the next day on March 18 she ended the relationship and had told Taylor to remove his belongings from the house.

She claimed Taylor grabbed her and threw her, without her shoes, into the garden, before kicking the door and leaving a boot print mark.

John Mewies, for Taylor, said his client had acted responsibly while the woman had been drinking throughout the day. He said she had been looking for an excuse to end the relationship, which was now over.

Magistrates said the woman's evidence had been vague and her recollection of events poor. They also questioned photographic evidence of bruising which she had taken herself and was not 'representational of what had happened.

Taylor, an HGV driver of Washburn Drive, was found not guilty of assault by beating and of criminal damage.
