A LOCAL awards ceremony last week saw Bradfordians and organisations recognised with a variety of accolades.

The Participate Project Awards 2018 recognises those doing "fantastic things" in their communities.

One of the award winners was Alex Dilger from Lower Grange Community Centre.

He picked up the title of Community Champion for his work at the centre.

Councillor Beverley Mullaney (Thornton and Allerton, Labour) commended Mr Dilger and that she'd watched him grow over the last 20 years.

She said: "It's a right big well done to him, he always goes above and beyond and is a catalyst here at the community centre."

Other award winners included The Big Swing Adventure Playground (Resilience Award) and Sarfraz Iqbal of Provident (Team Leader Award).
