A CONVICTED Bradford burglar who has refused to come to court may fear he will lose his cell over Christmas if he admits further offences.

The “third striker” aged in his 20s declined to leave his remand accommodation at Doncaster Prison to travel to Bradford Crown Court yesterday to enter pleas to two new allegations.

Because he is not legally represented, the Recorder of Bradford, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC (pictured), asked court staff to write to the prison governor with a postponed hearing date.

Lawyers in court when the defendant did not appear in the dock, suggested that he may fear being transferred to another prison just before Christmas if he admits the offences. Judge Durham Hall said that rather than “bring him here in chains” the case will be revisited early in the New Year.
