A BRADFORD diner restaurant is offering a helping hand to those in need this Christmas.

Cafe Rawal, an Indo-Oriental Diner on Barkerend Road, is running a "Feed The Hungry" scheme to support those who may be struggling this winter.

The initiative officially began yesterday, with the diner providing a hot dish of chicken curry, served with two chapatis, for all those who need it.

Food will be available daily from 7pm to midnight, or until the dishes run out, as they will be cooked fresh every day.

A spokesperson for Cafe Rawal said: "We are not here to judge so if you feel hungry and have little or no means to buy a meal we will provide it for you free of charge."

They added: "Please don't feel embarrassed to ask, there will be many people out in the cold this year so if you know anyone that could do with a hot meal kindly let them know."

Director, Wasiq Butt, said: "As a company we always endeavour to give back to the community who has played a major hand in making us successful.

We understand that some families [and] individuals find it difficult to eat comfortably and we believe no one should ever have to go hungry especially in the coming winter months. This is why we have started the ‘feed the hungry’ initiative.

"Not just for the homeless but for all those who have little to no means to buy a meal. We will provide free hot meals to all those who require it without judgement in the hope that we can help those who struggle.

"We have received hundreds of messages from near and far, of love and support and are very grateful to everyone."
