A DEAD body was pulled out of a reservoir after being found by a fisherman.

Officers attended the incident yesterday morning at the Holden Wood Reservoir in Haslingden, Lancashire.

It is believed that the man was in his mid-50s - it is not known at this stage how long he had been there.

Speaking yesterday, Insp Duncan Arthur from Burnley Police said: “We got the call at around 10am this morning.

“A fisherman had pulled a body from the water.

“The ambulance service, mountain rescue, air ambulance all attended the scene.

“We are not treating the death as suspicious.

“The man’s family and next of kin have been contacted.”

One passer-by, who did not wish to be named, said: “It is so sad and especially at this time of year.”

A resident added: “It is awful news. I used to walk my dog there, it's hard especially in this weather.

"I hadn't heard that anything had happened this morning when I went to church."

There is no appeal for information from the police.
