A MAN suffered serious head injuries and several broken bones after a collision in Smithhills.

The incident happened shortly after 11.15pm on Saturday, December 8. Police were called to Moss Bank Way at the junction with Halliwell Road.

A gold Nissan Nivara collided with a 65-year-old pedestrian, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver remained at the scene to speak with officers.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Police Constable James Brierley, of GMP’s Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the collision and our thoughts remain with the man as he recovers in hospital.

“I appreciate this collision happened late in the evening, but would urge anybody who has any information or believes they may have seen the gold Nissan or the pedestrian in the area prior to the collision to get in touch.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage which they believe could assist with our enquiries.”
